SHIPPING CONTAINER

ARt iNstallaTionS

I have a love of shipping containers as multi purpose structures and have helped artists with a vision add technology to utilise projects as visual art video installations in public places.
My workshop has two custom shipping containers as part of our office space so I am constantly surrounded by their possibility.
In 2007 I helped Wellington Artist, Storybox run and install their first container rear projection project on the Petone and Wellington foreshore using 20 foot containers.
In 2008 the project moved to Auckland and in 2009 I ran my redesigned version of this with three 10 foot shipping containers for The Living Room series for Auckland City Council, and we designed the power, modular screen and sound system for each.

In 2013 we were asked by MIT to design and build the Ōtara Cube, a very custom 10 foot shipping container as a public exhibition space dedicated to integrating arts and culture in everyday lives of Aucklanders still in use today.
All container projects were designed and built by DVANZ for our clients.
